The M 149 Switchable Tube Microphone from Neumann is a variable dual-diaphragm microphone. The K 49 capsule, well known from the legendary U 47 and M 49 microphones, is followed by a tube functioning as an impedance converter. In contrast to earlier concepts utilizing a transformer, the tube is complemented with a transformerless output circuit design. The M 149 Tube can thus feed long microphone cables without any coloration. Two slide switches are located below the large, acoustically open headgrille. The switch at the front allows selection one of nine directional patterns. This results in warm transparent audio signal character with a very low noise floor. The titanium diaphragm of the pressure capsule is 12mm in diameter and is exceedingly thin. As requested by top engineers, the head-grille is shaped just like that on the original M 50. The directional characteristic of the M 150 is totally unique; the microphone features a true omnidirectional pattern at low frequencies and becomes more narrow with mid and upper frequencies.Sku: M 150 Tube

The nickel TLM 103 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone from Neumann is a cardioid microphone that features low self-noise and high sound pressure level transmission. The capsule, derived from that used in the Neumann U 87, has a cardioid pattern, is acoustically well-balanced, and provides great attenuation of signals from the rear. The TLM 103 is equipped with a large-diaphragm capsule with a cardioid pattern. By focusing on this pattern, the attenuation of unwanted rear sound has been optimized. Off-axis sounds are rendered naturally while isolation is increased. This also leads to a high feedback suppression when the microphone is used in live situations or where loudspeaker playback is a factor. The TLM 103 is addressed from the side. The mic's large-diaphragm capsule is based on the K 87 and has a flat frequency response up to about 5 kHz, and above that, a wide flat 4 dB presence boost. The large, wire mesh head-grille protects the capsule from plosive sounds and effectively prevents pop noises. These characteristics are achieved without resorting to corrective resonance effects. The microphone maintains a great impulse response and reproduces details of music and speech without coloration.Sku: TLM103

The TLM 103 has set new standards for technical performance, too. With an incredibly low self-noise of only 7 dB-A , it is among the quietest microphones available. And its high sensitivity of 23 mV/Pa, ensures ultra low noise even with budget preamps and audio interfaces or vintage tube equipment. At the same time, the TLM 103 can handle enormous sound pressure levels of up to 138 dB without the need for preattenuation. Its vast dynamic range of 131 dB makes the TLM 103 a very easy to use studio microphone as it will capture anything from a soft whisper to a thunderous bass drum without adding noise or distortion. As a member of Neumann’s TLM series, the TLM 103 works with a transformerless output stage, which minimizes transmission losses and ensures a very immediate, uncolored sound, true to the original, as well as a clear, powerful bass response, even at highest signal levels.Sku: TLM103 Studio set

The nickel U 87 Ai Condenser Microphone from Neumann is a large dual-diaphragm condenser microphone. It features three directional patterns, including omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8. These are selectable with a switch below the head grille and the window above this switch shows the symbol of the selected characteristic. A 10 dB attenuation switch is located on the rear. It enables the microphone to handle sound pressure levels up to 127 dB without distortion. The low frequency response can be reduced to compensate for proximity effect. The U 87 Ai is used as a main microphone for orchestra recordings, as a spot microphone for single instruments, and extensively as a vocal microphone for all types of music and speech. The U 87 Ai is addressed from the front. The frequency response of the cardioid and figure-8 directional characteristics are very flat for frontal sound incidence, even in the upper frequency range. The microphone can be used very close to a sound source without the sound becoming unnaturally harsh. By means of a high-pass filter, interference through subsonic and low frequencies are reduced.Sku: U87 Ai

The U 87 Ai is the epitome of a large diaphragm condenser microphone. Its tapered body and iconic headgrille design have become part of the collective consciousness: This is what a studio microphone looks like. The same is true of its sound: The U 87 Ai represents studio quality; it has become the gold standard by which other microphones are measured. What sets the U 87 Ai apart is its unique combination of linearity and character. Although its on-axis frequency response is remarkably flat, it does exert certain charisma. It just sounds right! This makes the U 87 Ai both versatile and instantly recognizable. Technically speaking, the U 87 Ai is a traditional design whose timeless formula has remained unchanged for decades. The U 87 Ai uses the same dual diaphragm condenser capsule design as its predecessor, the no less legendary U 67 of the early 1960s. Its head amplifier, too, is based on the same design principles as its tube driven predecessor, but the U 87 Ai realizes them by means of a unique FET circuit with a minimal signal path and a transformer balanced output, ensuring maximum signal integrity and high common mode rejection.Sku: U87 Ai Studio set

The nickel U 89 i Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone from Neumann is a studio microphone for multiple applications. The amplifier accepts sound pressure levels up to 134 dB without distortion. This figure can be increased to 140 dB. An additional rotary switch activates a filter that changes the low frequency response either below 80 Hz or 160 Hz frequency. This microphone has omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8, hypercardioid, and wide-angle cardioid characteristics. When compared to the standard cardioid pattern, the hypercardioid characteristic suppresses sound from the side more efficiently. The wide-angle polar pattern is especially useful to record large sound sources.Sku: U 89i
