With a look reminiscent of the Shure 5B double-button carbon microphone from the 1930s, the Corona takes its name from the Mexican beer of the same name. No, it doesn’t . . . Yes, it does . . . Actually, the name derives from the outermost ring around the sun, which is marvelously appropriate, since the body of the Corona is concentrically spring-suspended inside a circular outer ring—and to use the obvious cliché, it will shine brightly on your vocals, live or in the studio. The inspiration for the Corona came from Sontronics’ own Halo, a dynamic mic designed for guitar tracking, that found itself in front of singers as well as guitar cabinets, according to user feedback.
