Description
The piano black Yamaha Soavo NS-F901 3-Way Bass Reflex Floorstanding Speaker delivers dynamic sound quality and robust power handling. This Yamaha model incorporates dual 6.5″ A-PMD cone woofers, a 5″ A-PMD cone mid-range and a 1″ aluminum dome tweeter for producing full-range sound quality. With a maximum power handling of up to 200W, the Yamaha Soavo NS-F901 is compatible with a wide variety of amplifiers and music types. This floorstanding speaker has a frequency response of 32 Hz – 50 kHz, which allows it to produce powerful low bass tones and optimal high-frequency sound. The Yamaha Soavo NS-F901’s cabinet is designed for enhanced sound quality by isolating the mid-range and woofer sections. Furthermore, the speaker has Solen metalized polypropylene capacitors and is fine-tuned for optimal performance. This speaker features real wood veneer and comes with 4 spikes for stable floor placement.

A-PMD Midrange

The NS-F901 adopts Yamaha’s A-PMD (advanced polymer-injected mica diaphragm) with improved cone paper in order to reproduce high-resolution sound sources. Taking advantage of the strong points of the A-PMD’s lightness, rigidity and stability, the speaker achieves smoothness, fast response and sound with good dissemination. The A-PMD incorporates a powerful magnetic circuit with a large neodymium magnet and a stiff diecast aluminum frame that increases the aperture ratio, achieving robust power handling and responsiveness in the mid frequency range. The rubber surround, a spider made by Kurt Müller of Germany and meticulous tuning also contribute to the reproduction of high quality music and movie sound.

A-PMD Woofer

The bass unit also adopts an A-PMD with a paper cone for the reproduction of high-resolution sound. The use of a large ferrite non-shielded magnet ensures high drive power that provides ample bass volume. By utilizing high quality parts such as a high rigidity diecast aluminum frame that dampens resonance, it reproduces deep bass, achieving both power and speed. This means the full power of the waves is forced out through the air port, resulting in clear, powerful bass.

Aluminum Dome and DC-Diaphragm Equipped Tweeter

The 1″ dome tweeter is made of aluminum for both hardness and responsiveness and like the mid-range unit, uses a neodymium magnet. The tweeter is designed to deliver smooth and transparent sound. Firmly integrating the diaphragm and voice coil and using a thick surround material increases the sound density and resolution in the high frequency range. With a heavy diecast aluminum tweeter plate that minimizes unwanted resonances and a fine mesh grill that provides enhanced sound dissemination, it reproduces the life-like sound quality of high resolution sound sources.

Cabinet Design

The cabinet was designed to reduce standing waves to ensure accuracy, as well as to provide a full, three-dimensional sound with depth. The cabinet has a non-parallel surface, with its woofer and mid-range sections divided by a slanted partition, which strengthens the entire enclosure with vertical ladder bracing. This cabinet structure is designed to ensure tight joints so the entire cabinet behaves as a single unit, providing tight, powerful and accurate bass reproduction.

Aluminum Tweeter Plate

A diecast aluminum tweeter plate isolates the tweeter from cabinet vibration and provides a solid attachment for the tweeter unit. This prevents incidental movement, helping to ensure that the high range sound is clear and transparent, with no coloration.

Solen Capacitors

The crossover networks employ high quality parts, including Solen metalized polypropylene capacitors and large iron-core coils. All parts are connected by directly soldering each one individually, instead of using printed circuit boards, further contributing to the rich and vivid sound. Additionally, meticulous sound tuning ensures optimum transitions between drivers for smooth and natural sound across the entire frequency range.

Outer Appearance

The form of the speaker, with no flat surfaces, was designed by Toshiyuki Kita, an international product designer. The stand is shaped like a trapezoid, and lacks flat surfaces to match the rest of the cabinet. The real wood veneer with piano finish is designed to present an elegant appearance.
